Engaging with the National Planning Commission

An important meeting took place between the Vice Chair of the National Planning Commission of Nepal, Honorable Mr. Min Bahadur Shrestha SUBODH Foundation UK chairperson, Subodh Timilsina. The discussion provided a valuable platform to explore opportunities for enhancing Nepal’s project management capacity.

The representative began by presenting a brief introduction of both organisations and highlighting the critical role of project management in ensuring the successful execution of large-scale development projects. Drawing on the example of the United Kingdom’s robust construction sector valued at over £800 billion annually he emphasised how effective project management frameworks contribute to efficient and timely delivery of mega projects.

He further expressed his willingness to act as a bridge between Nepal and the project management fraternity in Great Britain, offering to coordinate expertise and support whenever required.

Honorable Vice Chair Mr. Shrestha acknowledged the significance of strengthening Nepal’s project management workforce to meet the nation’s development objectives. He welcomed the idea of increased focus on professional project management as a key driver for achieving planned and sustainable growth.

The meeting also touched upon the challenges and opportunities associated with Nepal's mega projects. The discussion, which lasted approximately 45 minutes, was both insightful and constructive, concluding on a positive and forward-looking note.

This engagement marked a promising step toward enhancing international collaboration and building the professional capacity needed to support Nepal’s ambitious development agenda.
